Honda RA168-E
The heart of McLaren’s all-dominating MP4/4, one of the greatest cars in Formula 1 history. It was the last of the insane turbo era and earned 15 race wins and a Constructors Championship for the team. The RA168-E was also the engine that helped Ayrton Senna to secure his first Driver’s Championship in 1988.
The 1.5L twin-turbo V6 was capable of producing over 1200 HP. That’s an enormous amount of power, even by today’s standards and the RA168-E raced 24 years ago.
Formula 1 is reintroducing turbochargers for the 2014 season, but I doubt they’ll be as exciting as this.
