Project C.A.R.S.

For most of us, the decision of which racing sim to play is simple. It’s generally a toss up between Grand Turismo and Forza Motorsport. For the PC users there’s GTR 2, rFactor2 and the highly acclaimed iRacing. However, a new contender has surfaced from the makers of GTR.

Good lord! Project C.A.R.S. is still in the early stages of development and the games creators are seeking testers and potential investors. More info on that can be found here.

Based on the footage, Project C.A.R.S. is beautiful to look at and astonishingly realistic. I’m a Forza man myself and one of my complaints has always been the lack of racing types in the game. Sure there’s prototype cars and a handful of GT options but the lack of single seaters has left a void.

I can’t wait to hear more about this game. It’s a bold claim, but this could be the new top dog in the world of racing sims.

Racing In Slow Motion IV

I caught this video over on Axis of Oversteer earlier today and was completely floored. Racing In Slow Motion IV is a truly cinematic viewing experience, both exciting and very moving.

Even if you’re not interested in motor racing, crank up the volume and watch.

Legacy Twins

The Impreza is definitely the attention whore of the Subaru family, but what about the more mature, older brother? Everyone forgets about the Legacy, when discussing Subarus. The Legacy GT is running the same EJ25 as the STi and more than capable of putting down big power.

Photographer and STi owner Luis, seems to have a knack for tracking down the cleanest Subarus in SoCal. He’s shot many of the best including these awesome Legacy wagons.

The Legacy has more of a European look, which lends itself perfectly to a set of BBS LM’s.

Another seriously clean build, this one definitely has more of that JDM look than the previous wagon. The Blitz Technospeed Z1′s and K2 Gear front grill, help to set this car off. The giant intercooler also helps.

Just because the Legacy is the slightly larger, more refined older brother of the Impreza, by no means makes it boring. This car would be an ideal daily driver or a well endowed project car.

Girodisc Legacy GT

Johann at Girodisc in Washington has built one hell of a Legacy GT. I’ve been following this build for months. Johann finally posted some pictures of the final product and it’s really impressive.

The bodywork alone is worth an entire post. Since there aren’t too many exterior pieces available for the Legacy GT, Johann decided to do away with a conventional body kit and design his own. The front bumper is a custom piece based off the GDA Zero/Sports front bumper retrofitted to the car with JDM fog lights.

The wide body fender flares have been lifted from a 1989 Honda Accord and the results are nothing short of perfection. I had no idea the Legacy could look this tough.

For the rear, more custom work. Johann retrofitted the center exhaust section from a 2009 Legacy and added an OEM Limited rear lip. JDM tail lights and aggressive 18×10.5 +38 Volk GTM’s, complete the VIP-inspired look. To achieve the perfect stance, Johann has upgraded the entire suspension with Stance LX coilovers, Cusco swaybars, and Perrin endlinks. The drivetrain has also been lifted from an STi, including Brembo brakes and a 6-speed transmission from a Spec C.

For now the motor remains stock, with the exception of Borla headers and a custom exhaust. Johann has plans to swap in a built motor putting out around 400whp in the near future. The teal-painted manifold is a nice touch.

Johann has shocked some new life into a car that has all but been forgotten in the last few years. The result of this collaboration between Johann and Girodisc is nothing short of amazing.
