Alive & Well

It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen the Auto Produce BOSS Impreza.

The BOSS Impreza is one of my favorites and it’s good to see it on the track still. It’s crazy how so many of these demo cars from Japan just fall off the face of the earth, never to be seen again.

Apologies for the lack of updates but I’ve been spending the last couple of days making my way to Hong Kong. I’ll be doing my best to keep the blog updated from abroad however.

Varis 86

For how little time the FR-S has been on the market, there’s still plenty of people who’ve ruined them. When a car looks good from the factory, it can be difficult for aero companies to produce a successful look. There’s already quite a few unsavory kits out there, however when it comes to Varis you know a car is in good hands.

Happily they’ve done it again with their 86 demo car. I’m not amazed that the FR-S takes well to rear wings, however I am amazed just how much they change the car’s overall appearance. It goes from being a sporty runaround to a full blown track car with just a few tweaks.

It’s unsurprising that Varis is producing my favorite aero for the FR-S right now. The Rocket Bunny I discussed last month is definitely cool, but it’s overdone. Practically every demo car at SEMA had it and when the industry becomes that unimaginative, it makes you wonder if 1 guy is running the show.

Runduce GT-R

Earlier this year I made claims that the Ben Sopra kit was one of the most disgusting abominations ever to grace the lines of an automobile. Despite all the hype leading up to SEMA next week, I stand by those claims. 35 grand to turn your GT-R into a Decepticon? I’ll pass.

This is much more like it. The Varis x Original Runduce GT-R. This kit has been around for a couple years now, but it’s still one of the best options on the market. What I love about well designed aero is its ability to enhance the existing appearance of a car without completely changing it. Varis has always been exceptionally good at that, especially with their Original Runduce collaborations. Check out the kit they’ve just done for the FR-S!

Varis Evos

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on 09.14.2012 by aclasschris

As you might have known, I’m a Varis fan. I like to check up on their blog and see what their latest projects are. They do just about everything and do it well. I’ve personally never owned any of their products, but I used to work closely with them and the quality speaks for itself.

I’ve always liked their Evo demo cars, they have a certain je ne sais quoi.

There’s a guy in Chicago with a Varis kitted Evo X wide body. I believe it’s the only one that’s made it to the US. The car looks amazing and I don’t care if you’re a Subaru purist or not, it’s easily one of the best looking Evos in the country.

I’ve always loved the looks of this particular car. Maybe it’s the red paint or the Prodrive wheels. It’s got that great “street tuned” look that Varis does so well.

Revisit: Sydney’s Finest

Some of you may remember a certain GDA from Australia, I featured last summer. The car in question is owned by Hendra and it’s been given quite the facelift in the last 11 months.

This is one of the most serious GDA builds I’ve come across in all my time doing A Class. The formally red WRX was always a head turner, but now it’s become a bona fide street brawler, thanks to a new coat of paint and some exterior pieces from Varis and HTAutos. The 18×11 +15 AEM Tracer TM02s have taken on a darker shade which beautifully contrasts with the black and carbon accents on the car.

The dark gun metallic paint is something rarely seen on bugeyes and it suits the car well.

I’ve held off posting Hendra’s WRX revamp because my friend John also featured it on Bugeye Garage recently. Head over there for lots of additional pictures!

I hope to see a lot more from this build in the future.

Varis GVB Impreza

It’s been taking me a while to warm up to the GVB. Even though Subaru made the right decision and went back to a sedan, I think the GDB is a superior looking car. However, Varis is making a compelling argument for the current model.

With the exception of their recent GRB widebody kit, they nail it every time. Varis really does produce some of the industry’s best aero products and this kit is no exception. The front bumper and canards add an aggressiveness this car so desperately needs. The Prodrive GC-014i is also a great looking and underrated wheel.

Aged To Perfection

It’s been a while since a GRB has been on A Class. I remember hating the looks when it was released in 2008. But like most new iterations of the Impreza, it grew on me over time.

The GRB has always had a really good aftermarket parts selection, especially aero.

If I had a GRB, I’d probably have to go with the Varis X Original Runduce kit, but you certainly can’t go wrong with Varis’s street-style front lip. The bronze Advan RZ and what appears to be, a retrofitted Voltex diffuser, finish off the car nicely.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a JDM street Impreza, look this good.

Own A Super Taikyu Evo IX

If you’re looking for a used Evo, skip the Craigslist cesspool and go for this Super Taikyu Evo IX, from RS OGAWA.

The posting was on Varis’s Facebook earlier. No price is listed and it’s probably not available to customers, outside of Japan. I just think it’s awesome you can buy a Super Taikyu car and park it in your garage.

The Total Package

Is she a 7? No, definitely an 8, as you get a closer look. The silky black hair, those knee high leather boots. Sure she’s wearing a jacket, but you know that pair of C’s are waiting for you underneath. Those eyes, so seductive, but then she smiles…and you see that grill.

Maybe once them braces come off.

Varis GRB Widebody

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on 01.30.2012 by aclasschris

Varis is apparently developing a widebody kit for the GRB STi. It’s only a sketch right now, but so far things are looking good.

The fender and side skirt design look similar to their new Evo X kit, debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon.

I can’t help but wonder why they decided not to do it for the GVB instead. Anyway, pretty exciting news from Varis.
