I was hanging out with my buddy Colin on Thursday in Laguna Niguel and we decided to hit up a Mexican joint for dinner. We drove down to San Juan Capistrano and got dinner at El Campeon. I love my Mexican food and I wasn’t sure what to expect with this place. On first impressions it had all the right elements. The restaurant is situated in a Mexican grocery store and bakery, I knew good things were to come.
The menu was pretty vast and I had trouble deciding. I ended up going with the enchilada plate which came with rice and beans.
I got 2 chicken and 1 cheese enchilada with red sauce and it was amazing! These probably go down as the best enchiladas I’ve ever eaten next to Mi Nidito in Tucson. Colin and I simultaneously looked up and said “damn” as soon as we tasted our food. If you’re ever down in South Orange County, you have to check out El Campeon.
