Still The Champ

I wasn’t really surprised to read this morning that the Cyber Evo has won the World Time Attack Challenge at Eastern Creek Raceway. Despite a complete engine rebuild the night before, the engineers at Garage HRS were able to retune the car and get it back on the track in the hands of Tarzan Yamada. Tarzan was eager to put down some times and managed a 1:30:587, a new track record. Rounding out the top 3 were the Sierra Sierra Evo and the Tomei/Cusco Impreza, also driven by Yamada.

It’s somewhat of a miracle this car was even able to compete this weekend. The team’s mechanics are certainly veterans when it comes to time constraints. With nearly a decade of competition under it’s belt, the Cyber Evo remains the king of Time Attack. I’m still convinced with a few adjustments, the Tomei/Cusco Impreza can surpass the Cyber Evo, especially in the hands of Tarzan.

  1. cusco sti with some more power and real aero work should be faster. iirc it runs a 30r and absolutely no aero after the front splitter, so a 35r and flat bottom could close the gap. but, i’d say the team to watch is sierra sierra.
