Spent a bunch of time with friends I haven’t seen in days this weekend. So naturally food was involved with almost every outing. The Kogi Truck was in town on Saturday afternoon so we had to swing by and get a fix. Oh how I’ve missed it.
I went with a short rib taco and short rib burrito this time around. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Kogi Truck, they kind of started the whole food truck revolution that’s been sweeping the country. They blend two of my all time favorite foods, Korean BBQ and Mexican. It sounds like it doesn’t work, but it does so well in fact that it could be better than either of the two on their own. The short rib tacos are a variation of kalbi and pretty much the default, must have at the Kogi Truck. I must say the burrito (pictured above) was pretty heavenly as well.
Met up with some more homies on Saturday night at The Counter. This place takes the concept of “build-your-own-burger” to a new level. You can basically pick from over 20 different toppings and sauces to create the ultimate burger. They also have a full bar with 8 beers on tap. I decided to top my cheeseburger with fried egg and roasted green chilies. I’m an In-N-Out man at heart, but The Counter is a nice place to try something a bit different. Now I really need to get back to the gym!
